Listvyanka ToDo List
Listvyanka Village is the most popular destination on Lake Baikal. In the past few years it grew from a tiny village to a new vacation Rivera. Local folks and visitors alike rush to Listvyanka to see the Lake. The road connecting Listvyanka with Irkutsk is 70km long. It is a nice ride with rotating views of Siberian forests and small villages. There is a lot to do in Listvyanka village and around. Check museums, local churches, souvenir market, take a boat ride, hike, trek, ice fish, and taste Siberian food. This tour lists most popular activities and sites. Advance booking is strongly advised.
[Option 1] - Listvyanka Museums There are 3 major museums near Listvyanka village. The Museum of Lake Baikal is a great place to begin introduction with Lake Baikal's geology, fauna and flora (Open daily: 9am-5pm @ 1 Oct - 14 May; 9am-7pm @ 15 may-30 Sept). Stop by the Seal Aquarium to see live Baikal Seal (Nerpa) (open daily except Monday from 11am till 6pm). Make a stop at the open air museum of wooden architecture located between Irkutsk city and Listvyanka village. The museum is a real mini village assembled of original houses, schools, churches and shops built in the 17-19th century by Russian Cossacks and local ethnic groups (open daily from 10am till 5pm)
[Option 2] - Boat cruise (weather permitting). Boat cruises are very popular among visitors in the summer and early fall. Great way to enjoy the lake and relax.
[Option 3] - Water tour to nearby villages w/picnic (weather permitting) We invite you for a picnic to Bolshiye Koty village or Port Baikal. Both village are located near Listvyanka village. Port Baikal is part of the Circum-Baikal Railway.
[Option 4] - Dog Sledding The dog-sledding sledding is relatively recent tourist activity in Listvyanka. It quickly became very popular among winter visitors. Dogs are provide by a local base in Listvyanka run by a family. Great way to experience Siberian winter and Lake Baikal.
[Option 5] - Diving Daily introduction dives for non-certified divers from the shore are available all year round: 1 dive per day (max. depth 9m) with personal instructor. All necessary equipment are included in the fee: tanks, weights, weight belts, dry/wet suit, fins, regulator, mask, BC.
